JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:
- Craft and optimize shaders in Unity's URP, elevating the visual quality of diverse elements like planetary scenes, skyboxes, and character models.
- Employ optimization techniques, such as LOD mesh integration, to improve game performance without compromising artistic integrity.
- Facilitate the seamless incorporation of technical and artistic elements by working alongside artists and programmers, focusing on model rigging and prefab creation.
- Innovate with shader-driven approaches to replace traditional VFX, achieving high fidelity visuals at enhanced performance levels.
- Ensure all art assets meet rigorous technical standards and project budgetary guidelines, conducting thorough audits as needed.
- Drive the development of efficient art pipelines, specifically for planetary creation, and advise on texture optimization strategies to reduce memory overhead.
- Provide essential support to the art team, assisting with GIT issues and configuration, to maintain smooth operations.
- Engage directly with clients to define project visuals and communication materials, selecting the most effective mediums and overseeing all aspects of production.
- Manage subcontractors and lead a multidisciplinary team, upholding high standards of graphic design across all project stages.
REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess the following skills and experience:
- A university degree in visual arts with a focus on graphic design, commercial art, graphic communications, or cartooning, or a completed college diploma in graphic arts. Post-secondary training in multimedia design may also be necessary.
- Demonstrated creative ability and artistic talent, as evidenced by a comprehensive portfolio, are essential.
- Proficiency across a wide array of software and tools including but not limited to Python, ShaderLab, CG, GLSL, HLSL, VEX, Houdini, 3DS Max, Maya, and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with Unity, Unreal Engine 5, ZBrush, JIRA, GIT, and Confluence is an asset.
