Quanjude (“QJD”) is a 150-year-old Chinese restaurant famous for its Peking roast duck and traditional Chinese cuisine. We are the 1st QJD branded restaurant in North America now hiring an experienced head chef with speciality skills in QJD Pekingduck.  

Title/Term of Position:         Head Chef (full-time permanent position)

Wage:                                     $25.00/hour 37.5 hours/week payable bi-monthly

Work location:                      7095 Woodbine Ave Markham Ontario L3R 9A3

Qualifications:                     

  • Trained and equipped with the unique technique and recipe of QJD Pekingduck
  • Able to complete all the steps and process independently in marinating, roasting, cooking, peeling and carving skills of QJD Pekingduck
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Head Chef in a Chinese restaurant
  • Cook Trade Certificate
  • Superior organizational skills, detail oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, train subordinates and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced, physically demanding, team-oriented atmosphere

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise sous chef, specialist chefs, cooks and other kitchen staff.
  • Prepare the recipe, roast duck, carving the roasted duck before customers.
  • Train kitchen staff cooking techniques & the use of kitchen equipment
  • Develop new menu and new recipe standard
  • Maintain effective communication within the kitchen and with the dining room
  • Be responsive to staff suggestions and concerns and work to resolve problems
  • Report directly to the restaurant manager and the owner
