JOB POSITION: Truck Mechanic (NOC 7321)

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate OR Equivalent Experience

Experience: 2 Years to less than 3 years

Job Duties:

• Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor
• Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults
• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications
• Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
• Advise on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drive train, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems including structural, brake and electrical systems.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Hand-eye-coordination, Attention to detail, standing for extended periods

Additional Skills: Estimate parts and labour costs

Mechanical Repairer Specific Skills: Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions, Test and adjust units to specifications

Area of Specialization: Diesel Engines; Truck-trailer repair

Truck & Transport and Truck-Trailer Mechanic Specific Skills: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems, Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems
