Salary: $30.00 to $35.00 per hr. depending on experience, 40 hours per week.

Education: A College Diploma in computer science, network administration, web technology or related field.

Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.): Not applicable

Experience: 2 to 3 years’ experience at a professional level. Previous tech sector experience is an asset.

Job Overview

 

We are currently looking for expert Computer Network Technician (CNT) to join our team. The Computer Network Technician (CNT) will be a key member of our tech team and will be responsible for establishing, operating, maintaining and coordinating use of LANs and WANs, WiFi services, mainframe networks, hardware, software and related computer equipment at our office and clients’ premises.  

The CNT will be working closely with our sales and development team ensuring setup, maintenance of internet, intranet, web-server hardware and software at our office and clients’ locations. CNT will also be responsible for monitoring and optimization of network connectivity and performance.

 

Specific Skills

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and administer local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), WiFi service, mainframe networks, computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment
  • Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software, operating system software and software applications
  • Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks and to co-ordinate access and use of computer networks
  • Provide problem-solving services to network users
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade Web-server hardware and software
  • Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance
  • Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Conduct tests and perform security and quality controls
  • Control and monitor e-mail use, Web navigation, and installed software
  • Perform shell scripting or other basic scripting tasks, analyzing log files and configuring ip tables
  • May supervise other workers in this group.
  • A driver's license and a good driving record may be required.
