Job description:


Job Duties

  • Supervise the food preparation and cooking, maintaining a fully stocked kitchen inventory and complying with safety and cleanliness standards
  • Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of staff who prepare, portion, and serve food
  • Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders
  • Liaise between food counter staff, kitchen (backend) staff, chefs, cooks, management for delivering quality service. Liaising with customers, employees, suppliers, licensing authorities and sales representatives
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and health and safety legislation/guidelines
  • Handling customer enquiries and complaints
  • Estimate and order ingredients and supplies required for meal preparation
  • Prepare food order summaries for chef according to requests from customers
  • Establish work schedules and procedures
  • Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage
  • Train staff in job duties, and sanitation and safety procedures
  • Supervise and check assembly of regular and special food items
  • Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards
  • Participate with employer in the selection of food service staff and assist in the development of policies, procedures, and budgets
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Sanitizing and cleaning workstations and utensils

 

 

Employment requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in food preparation or food service establishment are required or Completion of a community college program in food service administration, hotel and restaurant management or related discipline may lower the experience requirement to 1 year.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of Punjabi will be an asset to have as majority of our customers are Punjabi speaking.
  • Ability to work in kitchen for extended hours.
  • Passion for the kitchen and for producing great product every day.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including opening, closing, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must work well within a team culture.
  • A positive and team-oriented attitude.
  • You must be able to perform efficiently during high volume peak periods.
