Title: Experimental Physicist (NOC: 2111)

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Overtime, Day

Salary: $48 to $52 per hour depending on experience.

Number of Hours Per Week: Minimum 40 hours per week with potential of overtime

Skill Requirements

 

Education: A master's or doctoral degree in a field of physics, engineering physics, or in a related discipline is preferred.

Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.): Not Applicable

Experience: 12 months’ experience as an Experimental Physicist is desirable.

Languages: Fluent English

Job Duties

  • Conduct fundamental experimental and theoretical research in electrical physics,
  • Conduct electro-magnetic simulations of electro-mechanical devices,
  • Design of experiments for electro-mechanical devices,
  • Carry out analysis of research data and prepare research reports,
  • Participate as a member of the research and development team in the design and development of alternative energy equipment, instrumentation, and procedures.

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Experience designing, engineering and building motors/generators from requirements capture to product validation.
  • Experience with electro-magnetic simulation.
  • Familiar with Ansys Simulation Suite
  • Familiar with AutoCAD/Inventor.
  • Proficient in either Mathematica or Maple.
  • Experience using Matlab.
  • Familiar with transformer design and theory.
  • Coding and script writing experience (python, Java, etc.)
  • Experience publishing scientific literature.
  • Familiar with the work of Nikola Tesla and Steinmetz.
