Job Summary:

The Construction Labourers should be available to provide assistance and support to trained and experienced construction tradespersons and work under their direction and supervision. The ideal candidate is a quick learner and can receive and recall verbal instructions in English. Physical capacity to perform all assigned work is a must as the position is labour intensive and may involve heavy lifting, repetitive motions and safe use of equipment.

Job Title: Construction Labourer

No. of Positions: 2

Job Description and Duties:

  • Work under and assist experienced carpenters and other construction tradespersons with day to day tasks on the job site.
  • Load and unload construction supplies from trucks
  • Set up work areas, erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
  • Mix, pour and spread materials
  • Drill holes in timbers or lumber and cut them to specified dimensions
  • Position and hold timbers, lumber, or paneling in place for fastening or cutting
  • Clean work areas, machines, or equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site
  • Oil and grease construction equipment and machinery for maintenance and performance
  • Light demolition work
  • Safely operate various power tools and construction equipment as directed
  • Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
  • Assist in drilling and blasting rock at construction sites
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
  • Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week 

Wages:  $20.50 per hour 

Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations  

Location of Work: 1388 272 Street, Aldergrove, BC V4W2P9 Canada
Anticipated Start Date of Employment:  As soon as possible

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

  • No formal education requirements
  • At least seven months of related experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English 

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: 

  • Repetitive tasks
  • Attention to detail
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling

  • Must be available for all hours of operations and shifts including overtime and weekend work as required
