Casa Romana Sweets in Oakville, Ontario is seeking an experienced cook to prepare traditional Romanian-style food, pastries and cakes for our bakery and eatery.

 

This position is permanent, full-time, requiring the employee to work 40 hours per week.

 

Salary is $26.50 per hour. The language of employment is English.

Work location: the business premises of the employer currently situated in Oakville at 609 Ford Dr., Suite 2A, ON L6J 7Z6.

 

Skills required: minimum completion of secondary (high) school or equivalent with a graduation certificate. A culinary trade course certificate is nice to have, but it is not mandatory. Higher education is nice to have, but it is also not mandatory.

 

The candidate must have a minimum of five years experience in Romanian cuisine or a very similar and related occupation and must have a solid grasp of the English language (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). Knowledge of the Romanian language is a nice to have skill, however it is not required.

 

The individual must demonstrate client focus, dependability, flexibility, initiative, judgement and reliability. They must be able to cope with working under pressure in a multitasking environment by being a good team player. Overtime work may be required.

 

The candidate will have to prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, oversee kitchen operations, maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, schedule and supervise kitchen helpers, may plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies, may hire and train kitchen staff. The candidate must be specialized in preparing and cooking Romanian cuisine and traditional special dishes pertaining to said cuisine.
