The Ability Clinic Healthcare Providers Inc. O/A The Ability Clinic located at 755 Queensway East, Suite 304, Mississauga, ON, L4Y 4C5 requires 1 Electromyography (EMG) Technician on a Permanent full-time basis. Wage: $ 27.50 per hour for a minimum of 30 hours or above per week. 3 years to less than 5 years’ experience is required. Candidates must be certified or eligible for BRETC OR ABEM certification. Duties Electromyography (EMG) Technician

  • Look through patients’ files to determine requirements for EMG testing and confer with attending doctors to obtain further information.
  • Calibrate and adjust EMG equipment and machines at the beginning of each shift, to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Educate patients by providing them with information on what to expect during EMG test
  • Apply gels on patients’ skins and ensure that suitable electrodes are placed on predetermined measured positions.
  • Measure electrical activity in peripheral nerves in a bid to diagnose neuromuscular disorders.
  • Attach electrodes to electrode cables and connect them to EMG instruments, along with selecting nerve conduction modes.
  •  Monitor responses and record nerve conduction values
  •  Measure and record time and distance between stimulation and response, and calculate the electrical impulses present in peripheral nerves.
  • Prepare and submit reports on each patients’ response to EMG procedures and tests to the doctor and ensure that all files and outcomes are confidentially stored.
