Employer: JL Kims Investment Ltd. (D.B.A. JL Sushi & Kitchen)

 Located in near Lonsdale Quay, North Vancouver, JL Sushi & Kitchen restaurant has been serving best quality of Sushi and Japanese hot food to local resident and tourists with reasonable price. Currently, we are looking for a full-time Chef who love cooking and will enjoy working with our energetic team! Acts as a Chef, he / she will directly handle our kitchen operation.

Work Location: 140 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC V7M 2E8

Position Title: Chef

Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Estimated Starting Date: As Soon As Possible
Position Available: 1

Wage: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour (Depending on Working Experience).

Work Hours: 30 - 40 hours per week

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay

Responsibility:

  • Supervise Cooks and manage the work schedule of Cooks;
  • Prepare and cook various Japanese cuisine such as sushi, tempura, teriyaki, udon, bento box, ramen etc in JL Sushi & Kitchen’s menu;
  • Supervise proper handling and temperature of all food items;
  • Assist main Chef to oversee overall kitchen operation, supervise all activities in the kitchen, and maintain order and discipline in the kitchen during work hours;
  • Guide and provide support to kitchen staff members in cooking techniques and use of equipment;
  • Provide support and instruction to Cooks in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes;
  • Develop new and creative recipes and menus for JL Sushi & Kitchen;
  • Plan meal designs and timely requisition of food items and kitchen equipment.

 

Qualification:

  • Completion of secondary school is usually required;
  • Cook’s trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience are required;
  • Sous-chefs, specialist chefs and chefs usually require 2-3 years of experience in commercial food preparation;
  • Able to work under pressure as a team player in a busy kitchen atmosphere;
  • Great problem-solving and time management skills;
  • Able to communicate in English.
