Position:        Packaging Food Supervisor -Food and Beverage processing (Lead                                    Packaging Technologist)– NOC 9213

Wages:           $ 27.10, 40 hours a week

Job Description:

  • Managing workflow, daily packaging line activities and issues; monitor work teams to ensure that required packaging procedures and product specs are followed; monitor quality of product(s) at various stages of packaging
  • Managing, supervising and coordinating the work for processing and packaging machines operators;
  • Supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activity of workers in processing, packaging, testing and graders for natural food products;
  • Recording finished good data in SAP/4S-Hana and verify production numbers as required;
  • Assisting warehouse in packaging inventory counts and returns;
  • Identifying issues or problems with the packaging equipment, determine root cause of problems identified; rectify whenever possible, or recommend solutions to avoid issues reoccurring;
  • Creating methods to meet work schedules and synchronizing work activities with other departments;
  • Determining work problems and implement measures to improve productivity and product quality;
  • Anticipating possible problems, troubleshooting people and packaging machinery to avoid unplanned down time and production delays pertaining to the packaging lines;
  • Coordinating training for new and existing workers in specific duties, packaging machine operations, quality performance and safety procedures (e.g. GMP, WHMIS, Health & Safety)
  • Monitor, train, cross train, workers.  Instill positive culture and morale among employees
  • Develop and recommend improvements of facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality and efficiency related to the packaging lines.

Employment Requirements

  • High School diploma is required; Any technical college or vocational school completion is an asset;
  • 5 years’ experience in the food industry with a good understanding of manufacturing processes, allergen control, regulations regarding safety, quality and GMPs;

Knowledge of the following packaging equipment is a must:

  • Dual LJ/ Kliklok Genesis Box Former/Vari-right Closer / Inkjet Printer/Ribbon Printer/ Laser Printer/ Horizontal flow wrappers;
  • Must have experience in ERP system, specifically SAP 4S Hana;
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office.
