Long Haul Truck Driver

Canada Cargo Lines Ltd. located at Unit B, 1870 King Edward Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R2R 0Z9 is looking for 15 Long Haul Truck Drivers.

Positions Available: 15

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Overtime, Evening, Weekend, Night

Salary: $23.00 per hour, for 50.00 Hours per week

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Unit B, 1870 King Edward Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R2R 0Z9

Job Duties:

  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Perform brake adjustments
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Load and unload goods

Job Requirements:

Education: Completion of Secondary school is required

Work Experience: 1 -2 year of Experience required

Credentials: Driver’s License (Class 1 or A), Air Brake Endorsement required

Documentation Knowledge: Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Accident or incident reports, Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Trans-border documentation

Language: English is required

Security and safety: Driver's validity license check, Medical exam, Drug test, Criminal record check, Basic security clearance, driving record check (abstract)

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, sitting

Transportation and travel information: Willing to travel for extended periods, willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel overnight, Valid driver's license

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Personal Suitability: Reliability

Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service, Address customers' complaints or concerns

Communication Systems Experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment

Transportation/Travel Experience: International, Provincial/territorial, Long-haul

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Extended length tractor-trailer combination, Flatbed, Refrigerated, Tractor-trailer

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs.)
