Job Description:

The center offers childcare to children from 12 months to 5 years of age.

The applicant will be asked to work with children aged 12 months – 60 months.

Job Requirements:

-Education: A bachelor's degree or college diploma is required

-Experience an asset

-Valid Early Childhood Education Certificate is a must

-Valid First Aid Certificate and Criminal Record Check is required

-Favorable oral and written communication in English

-Responsible and able to cooperate and work as a team with the other staff

 

Job duties:

-Guide and assist children according to center’s curriculum; Develop and implement child-care and infant child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children

-Help children develop their skills of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

-Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity

-Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor

-Knowledge of Daycare Services Act and licensing regulations

-Establish guidelines for behaviour

-Maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children

-Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children

-Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers

-Maintain equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties and order supplies and equipment

-Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members

-Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children

 

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills:

Support Early Childhood Educators in leading the activities that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Discuss the progress and problems of children during staff meetings; Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers; Lead children to participate in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Submit written observation reports on children to early childhood educators or supervisors

 

Additional Skills:

Plan and organize activities for the children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours; Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers; Order supplies and equipment for activities; Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties; Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Supervise and coordinate in planning of activities with early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants

 

Salary:

$ 18.00 ~ 19.00 CAD an hour [8 hours a day & 40 hours per week]

Employees are required to work from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM including an 1 hour unpaid lunch break
