Job description:


Early Bird Coffee and Kitchen, located at, 613 Queen Street East is looking to hire an experienced Chef specializing in healthy contemporary cuisine to join our professional Kitchen Team for a full-time, permanent position.35.00 Hrs. per week

 Duties of position include:

  • Setting up, cleaning, and organizing workstations
  • Preparing ingredients for the shift; washing vegetables, chopping, seasoning meat, etc.
  • Preparing oven, utensils, and grill for shift
  • Cooking order according to food health and safety standards
  • Handling multiple food orders at one time
  • Monitoring multiple food orders as new orders arrive
  • Dressing order for presentation
  • Ensuring each guest order has the correct food and sides
  • Delivering food order to wait staff in a timely manner
  • Storing all food properly
  • Sanitizing and cleaning workstations and utensils
  • Reordering stock and food supplies
  • Assisting other cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed
  • Monitoring inventory and placing orders for more supplies as needed.
  • Cleaning workstations before food preparation.

Pay/Work Schedule:

Pay for this position is 24.04 per hour regular work week will consist of minimum 35 hours of work per week and can occasionally go up to 40 hours per week with (applicable overtime pay will apply after 44 hours of work per week). Be ready to work shifts consisting of mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

 Requirements of the position:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Chef
  • Completion of a Diploma in Culinary arts
  • Safe Food Handling certificates, certifications are an asset,
  • Knowledge of Contemporary cuisine and calculation of calories per ingredient
  • Must be able to demonstrate culinary abilities upon first interview, if requested
  • Knowledge of Nutrition an asset
