Early Childhood Assistant
Salary $24.10/hour
Permanent full- time, regular employment, 40 hours per week
Job requirements; Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, 7-12 months minimum experience in child care assistant duties for children 1-4 years old; Vulnerable sector check
First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, personal suitability punctuality, dependability, flexibility, effective interpersonal skills, reliability, team player, interpersonal awareness, judgement
Duties: bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers, support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children between the ages of 19 months to 4 years; engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts, prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; assists in monitoring lunch and snack-time activities encouraging children to eat; report any appetite changes to the RECE, parents and Supervisor; along with the RECE completes regular attendance checks indoors, outdoors and on trips; knows the number of children at all times; notes headcounts on attendance verification at transitions, ensures children are dressed appropriately for indoor and outdoor activities; assists RECE to ensure playground check is complete and recorded twice daily, submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
