Food buyer
Terms of employment: Permanent, regular employment, full time, 40.00 hours per week, salary $25.00 per hour, travel expenses paid by employer.
Job requirements: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, some college/university courses in business, marketing or management an asset, 3 -5 years of experience, ability to supervise: 3-4 people, willing to travel, excellent oral communication, client focus, organized, initiative, accurate, flexibility, effective interpersonal skills, team player, excellent written communication, judgement, specialized in sales, buying, merchandise needs analysis, market analysis, product selection, negotiation, distribution, pricing, product development, imports of food products from European countries.
Duties:
Maintain adequate stock levels, Negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms and transportation arrangements with suppliers, Establish and maintain contact with suppliers, Review requirements of establishment and determine quantity and type of merchandise to purchase, Arrange product according to planogram, Provide customer service, Study market reports, trade periodicals and sales promotion materials and visit trade shows, showrooms, factories and product design events, Visit trade shows, showrooms, factories and product design events, Oversee distribution of merchandise to outlets, Select and purchase merchandise for resale, area of expertise: Sales, Buying, Merchandise needs analysis, Market analysis, Product selection, Negotiation, Distribution, Pricing, Product development
