Job Summary:

The baker will be in-charge of preparing authentic, tasty Filipino pastries and delicacies. This person will have the expertise in making the different cuisines and pastries of the Philippines. They will possess the knowledge about the special techniques and ethnic ingredients needed to prepare these specialty dishes. The Baker will oversee the production schedule to determine the supply and demand of the products, and will ensure that the quality of the products meet the established standards.

This person will need to show proficiency in leadership, decision-making, problem-solving skills, time management, effective communication, and teamwork.

Job Description and Duties:

  • Prepare dough for Filipino pies, bread, and sweet goods
  • Prepare batter for Filipino cakes and other pastries
  • In-charge of inventory and ordering the needed ingredients and other materials as seen fit
  • Schedule type and quantity of baked goods to produce
  • Ensure consistency in taste and appearance of baked goods
  • Train and supervise baking personnel and kitchen staff
  • Add and/or adjust new baked goods/products in the menu
  • May oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen as per any local and provincial codes
  • Ensure that safety precautions are being met and safety procedures are being followed by kitchen staff

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week 

Wages:  $16 per hour 

Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations. 

Benefits Package: 

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer.
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.

Anticipated Start Date of Employment:  As soon as possible

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required
  • Good knowledge in the area of Authentic Filipino baked goods
  • At least one year of experience as a Baker
  • Ability to communicate in English
