Job description:
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, stock inventory appropriately.
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces).
- Cook menu items independently or in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely fashion; ensure promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
- Work closely with coworkers and the restaurant manager to ensure quality food service.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings for kitchen personnel.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma/graduation is required.
- Prior completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety is an asset.
- Minimum 1 years of proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Chef, Restaurant Cook, Prep Cook or in other related positions.
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
- Strong detail orientation, ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work on-call, shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays when required.
- Must be able to work and remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Fluent communication skills in English.
