Position Overview (Roofer)

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Roofer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in roofing and construction, with the ability to work efficiently and safely in varying weather conditions. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of roofing systems on residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. This includes working with torch-on (SBS) membranes, TPO/EPDM single-ply systems, asphalt shingles, metal roofing, and waterproofing assemblies. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to quality will ensure our clients receive reliable, high-performance roofing solutions that meet industry and manufacturer specifications. This position is well-suited for roofers who take pride in craftsmanship, value safety, and are motivated to build a long-term skilled trades career.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $ 36.60 – 40.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and replace a wide range of roofing systems, including built-up roofing (BUR), torch-on (SBS) membranes, modified bitumen, TPO/EPDM/PVC single-ply systems, asphalt shingles, cedar shakes, tiles, and metal roofing.
  • Apply waterproof sheet materials, vapor barriers, insulation layers, and protective coatings to enhance roof durability and weather resistance.
  • Install roofing assemblies according to blueprints, specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Apply layers of hot asphalt, tar, and roofing paper as required for built-up and modified roofing systems.
  • Perform roof inspections to assess conditions, identify deficiencies, and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
  • Conduct repairs on existing roofs, including sealing, caulking, flashing adjustments, leak troubleshooting, and membrane patch work.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, roof brackets, and fall-protection systems to ensure safe access and work performance.
  • Operate and maintain roofing tools and equipment such as torches, roof cutters, nail guns, heat welders, kettles, and hand tools ensuring they remain in good working condition.
  • Handle materials, load/unload supplies, and assist with heavy lifting as required during installation and repair projects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout each project.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet project timelines, quality standards, and safety expectations.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, site supervisors, and project managers to provide updates and address any questions or concerns.
  • Follow all WorkSafeBC regulations, safety protocols, and company policies to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Perform additional related duties assigned to support overall team productivity and project success.

 

Job Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Completion of a 2–3-year apprenticeship program or a minimum of 2 years of relevant roofing experience.
  • Trade certification is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, including openness to feedback from supervisors and managers.
  • Ability to work early mornings, long hours, and in various weather conditions as required.
  • Ability to work safely at heights and perform heavy lifting throughout the workday.
  • Proficiency in using roofing hand tools and equipment (e.g., torches, nailers, cutters, harness systems etc.).
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading and understanding of building specifications.
  • Experience in carpentry, maintenance, or related construction tasks is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
