Wages: $17.85 per hour for 40 hours per week
Benefits:
- Accommodation will be provided at $30/week (if required)
- Relocation expenses and private health insurance covered by the employer until the worker is covered by the appropriate provincial health insurance plan.
- Transportation facility will be provided to the workers from their residence to the farm by the employer (if required)
- Benefits as per Employment Standards Act (Vacation Pay 4% of gross salary will be paid on each scheduled payday)
Job Duties:
- Pick ripe blueberries by hand carefully to keep good quality and avoid damage.
- Put picked berries directly into clean pails or containers.
- Sort and grade blueberries by size, color, and quality.
- Weigh, label, and pack berries for storage or delivery.
- Load and unload bins, trays, and crates in the field or storage area.
- Clean buckets, trays, and packing areas regularly.
- Remove damaged or spoiled berries and keep the area clean.
- Stack filled containers neatly in the collection area.
- Help move packed berries to storage or transport trucks.
- Follow supervisor’s instructions and work safely and efficiently.
- Clean tools and store equipment at the end of each day.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Physically demanding, Bending, crouching, kneeling
Work Site Environment: Outdoors
