Bookkeeper

Salary: $36.60 hourly
Hours: 30 to 40 per week

Education and experience: Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field OR High School with minimum 2 years of experience in bookkeeping.
Start Date: as soon as possible
Duties:
- Maintain complete and accurate financial records for the lumber manufacturing operation, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Record and reconcile daily financial transactions in accounting software and general ledgers.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding accounts.
- Process supplier invoices, verify accuracy, and prepare payments in accordance with company policies.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and vendor statements.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including hours worked, deductions, and statutory remittances, or coordinate payroll processing with external providers.
- Calculate and prepare GST/PST filings, source deductions, and other routine government remittances.
- Prepare monthly financial summaries, trial balances, and basic financial reports for management review.
- Maintain organized records of contracts, purchase orders, shipping documents, and expense claims.
- Assist with year-end preparation by providing documentation and schedules to external accountants or auditors.
- Monitor cash flow and report discrepancies or irregularities to management.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
