Position Description

Position: Early Childhood Educator

Type of employment: Full-Time; Permanent

Salary and Benefits

• Salary: $31.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate early learning programs that promote creativity, and overall development of children
• Lead interactive group activities such as storytelling, music, art, and play-based learning experiences
• Create and maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment that supports children’s well-being
• Observe and document each child’s progress, interests, and behaviours, and communicate insights with families and colleagues
• Support children in developing healthy routines and self-care habits including eating, dressing, and hygiene
• Foster respectful and inclusive interactions among children and staff
• Collaborate with fellow educators, families, and community resources to support individual child development
• Supervise and guide early childhood educator assistants, as needed.

Requirements

• Completion of a two- to four-year college program in Early Childhood Education or a bachelor’s degree in child development
• Must be a certified Early Childhood Educator (ECE)
• Patience, creativity, and the ability to engage with children in a positive and nurturing manner
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to a dynamic childcare setting
• A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development
• Previous experience in childcare or educational setting is an asset.
