Nature of position:      Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)

 

Wage:                          $36.60 per hour

                                    Plus 5% of pooled tips to be allocated among all kitchen staff, based on hours worked

                                    A bonus may be paid from time-to-time, at the sole discretion of the restaurant manager.

Vacation:                     4% in lieu of paid vacation

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

 

  • Report to the General Manager, plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate kitchen and food service operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Implement and oversee kitchen and food service operational procedures, including food preparation workflows, sanitation standards, and service coordination.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen and food service staff, ensuring compliance with food safety, health, and service standards.
  • Establish and manage work schedules for kitchen and food service teams and monitor performance against operational targets.
  • Control food inventory, monitor food and labour costs, track revenues, and recommend adjustments to procedures, menus, and pricing.
  • Resolve customer complaints related to food quality and service delivery and ensure adherence to health, safety, and public health regulations.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier arrangements for food and kitchen supplies, including pricing, quality standards, and delivery terms.
  • Coordinate and manage food service operations for catering, banquets, and special events, including menu planning, staffing, and kitchen resource allocation.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

 

  • At least two years of experience in the food service industry;
  • Some previous experience as a manager or assistant manager in a sit-down restaurant with occupancy of 20+ patrons;
  • Some knowledge of Italian cuisine preferred;
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a team, keeping staff motivated to provide excellent service and food while meeting safety requirements;
  • Proven ability to respond to customer complaints effectively;
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced restaurant environment, including standing for extended periods
  • Completion of Serving it Right course.
