Job description
The Sen Pad Thai team is currently looking for a permanent and full-time Chef. You will be working in a fast-paced environment and will have a chance to work with local ingredients and complex Thai flavors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities
- Creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes ensuring variety and quality
- Dealing with suppliers and ensuring that they supply quality goods at affordable prices
- Managing the inventory and ordering stock as needed
- Ensuring that kitchen staff adhere to quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Staying up-to-date with culinary trends and kitchen processes
- Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen equipment and organizing repairs when needed
- Handling staff issues, such as sick leave and attendance, and taking disciplinary action when necessary
- May recruit and hire staff
- May prepare and cook food on a regular basis
Education, Skills and Experiences required:
- Completion of a secondary school
- At least three years of experience in commercial food preparation is required
- Knowledge or experience in preparation of Thai cuisine is strong asset but not a requirement
Language: Communication skills in English
Compensation: $36.67/hour, staff meals, extended Sunlife medical plan (after 1-year continuous full-time work), 4% Vacation Pay
