Job Description
Zoom Engineering Ltd. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician to assist with electrical design and technical support for residential, commercial, institutional, and mixed-use building projects. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professional Engineers and/or senior technical staff.
Job Duties
- Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for residential, commercial, institutional, and mixed-use building projects.
- Prepare and revise electrical drawings, layouts, diagrams, and related project documents.
- Assist with electrical design work for lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, emergency power, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
- Perform basic electrical calculations and assist with equipment selection under supervision.
- Review drawings and documents for accuracy, completeness, and general compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate electrical design information with engineers, consultants, contractors, and other project team members.
- Assist with site visits and provide technical support during the design and construction phases.
- Maintain project records, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Use AutoCAD, Revit, AGi32, and/or other design software to prepare and update project documents.
- Follow applicable codes, standards, company procedures, and project specifications.
Employment Requirements
- Completion of a college program in electrical or electronics engineering technology, or a related field is usually required.
- Equivalent related education, technical training, or work experience in electrical design, electrical drafting, or building electrical systems may be considered.
- At least one year of related experience in electrical design, electrical drafting, or building electrical systems is preferred.
- Experience with electrical drawings, layouts, diagrams, and project documents is an asset.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, AGi32, or other design/drafting software is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of electrical codes, building codes, safety standards, or project specifications is an asset.
- Certification in electrical or electronics engineering technology, or in a related field, is an asset but not required.
- Ability to work under the supervision of Professional Engineers or senior technical staff.
