Flatbed Truck Driver
United City Cartage Ltd. is currently seeking dedicated and safety-conscious Flatbed Truck Drivers to join our growing transportation team. The successful candidates will be responsible for transporting freight, construction materials, machinery, and other cargo to various destinations while ensuring compliance with all applicable transportation and safety regulations.

Position Type: Permanent, Full-time
Wage: $36.00 per hour
Hours: 40 to 60 hours per week

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate flatbed trucks to transport materials, goods and oversized loads to various destinations safely and on time.
- Secure cargo using chains, straps, binders, and blocking equipment to ensure load stability during transportation.
- Install and remove tarps over freight to protect materials from weather damage and maintain cargo safety standards.
- Inspect loads regularly during transit to confirm cargo remains properly secured and compliant with safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to identify mechanical defects and ensure vehicle roadworthiness.
- Follow company safety procedures and provincial transportation regulations while operating commercial vehicles.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, fuel records, and delivery documentation as required by law.
- Coordinate with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse personnel to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight while verifying shipment quantities and checking for damages.
- Monitor weather, traffic, and road conditions to ensure safe driving practices and protect cargo throughout transit.
Requirements:
- Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent.
- Valid AZ Driver's Licence.
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
- Ability to operate flatbed transportation equipment and perform cargo securement and tarping duties.
- Knowledge of bills of lading, driver logbooks, trip reports, and vehicle inspection documentation
- Ability to complete required documentation accurately.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and handle loads up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
- Must be able to pass a criminal record check, driver's abstract review, medical examination, and any other job-related screening requirements.
Work Environment:
This position involves long-haul and national transportation assignments. Frequent travel is required, and candidates must be willing to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, on-call shifts, and overtime as required.
