Telecommunication Line Construction Technician

Wage: $36.25 per hour
Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week
Employment: Permanent, full-time
Shifts: Day, evening and weekend
Start date: As soon as possible

Work location: On-site at various locations. There is no option to work remotely.
Requirements
Language: English
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair telecommunication cabling and related equipment in commercial and residential buildings
- Inspect and test communication cables, signal connections and associated equipment
- Read blueprints, wiring diagrams and project specifications to determine installation requirements
- Install and connect telephone, internet, data and communication outlets
- Run, splice, join and terminate aerial, underground and building communication cables
- Install cable modems and related equipment to provide internet connectivity
- Identify the nature, cause and location of cable or signal problems
- Repair or replace faulty cables, connectors, power supplies and amplifiers
- Connect, disconnect and relocate communication and cable outlets
- Coordinate installation work with electricians and other construction personnel
- Complete testing, installation and service reports
- Follow workplace safety procedures while working at residential and commercial sites
