EMM TEE Construction Ltd. is seeking four experienced Drywall Installers to join our construction team in Surrey, British Columbia.
Our projects include residential and commercial construction at various locations. We are looking for skilled tradespeople with hands-on drywall installation and finishing experience who can read construction drawings, perform accurate layout and installation work, maintain high workmanship standards, and work safely in demanding construction environments.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for experienced individuals who take pride in quality workmanship and can work effectively both independently and as part of a construction team.
What You Will Do
As a Drywall Installer, you will be responsible for skilled installation and finishing work throughout different stages of residential and commercial construction projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Review and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and specifications to determine installation and finishing requirements.
- Plan and organize assigned drywall work according to measurements, drawings and project requirements.
- Measure, mark, cut, fit and install drywall sheets on walls, ceilings and other building assemblies.
- Position, align and securely fasten drywall to metal or wood studs and joists.
- Prepare drywall and adjoining surfaces for taping, finishing and related work.
- Apply joint tape and successive coats of joint compound to drywall seams and joints.
- Fill fastener indentations, joints, holes, cracks and surface imperfections using appropriate compounds and finishing tools.
- Sand and finish seams and joints to achieve smooth, consistent surfaces ready for subsequent finishes.
- Measure, cut and install metal corner beads and other accessories to protect and finish exterior corners.
- Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams and other areas requiring plaster or related finishes.
- Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place ceiling panels for acoustical and coffered ceiling systems.
- Set up and use scaffolding, falsework and other approved working platforms required to safely perform installation and finishing work.
- Inspect completed work for alignment, fastening, joint finish and overall workmanship and correct deficiencies where necessary.
- Coordinate assigned work with supervisors, other drywall installers and construction trades to meet project schedules.
- Guide and supervise 1–2 workers when assigned, including providing direction regarding installation methods, work sequencing and safe work practices.
- Organize materials and work areas to support efficient installation and minimize unnecessary material waste.
- Follow workplace safety requirements when handling drywall sheets, tools, equipment and materials and when performing work at heights.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas throughout the project.
Education and Experience
Applicants must have:
- Other trades certificate or diploma or equivalent experience.
- 2 years to less than 3 years of directly related drywall installation and finishing experience.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Practical experience performing drywall installation and finishing in residential or commercial construction environments.
Required Credential
- Fall Arrest Protection Training Course
Skills We Are Looking For
Successful applicants should demonstrate:
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings and construction specifications.
- Strong measuring, cutting, fitting and drywall installation skills.
- Experience with drywall taping, compound application, sanding and finishing.
- Knowledge of metal and wood framing applications related to drywall installation.
- Experience with suspended ceiling systems and drywall finishing accessories.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, portable power tools, ladders, scaffolding and construction equipment.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to measurements and finishing quality.
- Ability to organize assigned work and meet construction schedules.
- Ability to provide direction and supervision to junior workers when required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is an active construction position involving physically demanding work at residential and commercial project sites.
Applicants must be able to:
- Work safely at heights.
- Work in dusty and noisy construction environments.
- Regularly bend, crouch and kneel while performing installation work.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Handle heavy construction materials and drywall sheets.
- Safely handle loads weighing up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
- Maintain hand-eye coordination while measuring, cutting, fastening and finishing materials.
- Work under pressure and manage a large workload.
- Complete assigned work within tight project deadlines.
- Work safely from scaffolding and other approved working platforms.
