Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the company’s logistics and transportation operations for fresh and canned fruits and vegetables.
Manage shipping documentation and oversee shipment scheduling, dispatch and tracking to ensure timely delivery to customers.
Establish transportation cost targets and performance indicators to monitor freight costs, delivery times and service quality.
Develop transportation and storage procedures appropriate for fresh produce and canned products, including temperature requirements, product protection and timely distribution.
Negotiate transportation, storage and cargo insurance arrangements with carriers, warehouse operators and insurance representatives.
Prepare and control the logistics department’s budget, monitor expenditures and implement measures to improve transportation efficiency.
Recruit logistics and shipping personnel and oversee their training and performance.
Coordinate with greenhouse, canning and sales teams to align shipping schedules with harvests, production volumes and customer orders.
