Job Description
- Prune, trim, and shape mature blueberry bushes heavily during the fall and winter seasons to maximize future crop yields.
- Perform heavy fall and winter field maintenance, including weeding, brush clearing, removing dead branches, and winterizing fields.
- Support year-round farm operations, transitioning through pre-harvest preparation, active summer harvesting, and extensive post-harvest field care.
- Plant, cultivate, irrigate, and maintain massive berry crop acreage.
- Harvest ripe berries by hand during production seasons using proper picking techniques.
- Sort, grade, and pack harvested berries into containers, trays, and boxes for transportation and sale.
- Tie, trellis, and secure young and mature blueberry plants to provide necessary structural support.
- Assist with soil preparation, mulching, organic matter application, and new field planting activities.
- Inspect crops regularly for signs of disease, winter frost damage, pests, and report concerns to the supervisor.
- Clean and maintain harvesting tools, field equipment, containers, and general farm work areas.
- Load, unload, and transport crates, farm supplies, fertilizers, and harvested produce.
- Operate and perform basic maintenance of farm machinery and tractors as instructed.
- Comply strictly with workplace health and safety procedures and supervisor instructions.
