Title: Long Haul Truck Driver (NOC: 7511)

Employer: Coastal Pacific Xpress Inc., #105-5355 152nd Street, Surrey, British Columbia, V3S 5A5

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Overtime

Salary: $27.00 to $32.00 hourly, depending on experience, minimum 40 hours per week with potential for 60 hours weekly  

Benefits: Extended medical and dental insurance after probation period

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Surrey, British Columbia

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.):  Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement

Job Description/Specific Skills:

• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Loading and unloading of goods
• Plan travel schedules and routes
• Use atlases and other trip planning aids
• Receive and relay information to central dispatcher
• Drive as part of a two-person team or single driver
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness

Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer, highway

Type of Travel: Long-haul, Provincial/territorial, International

Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trans-border documentation, Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports.

Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg

Transportation/Travel Information: Must be able to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods.

Security and Safety: Basic security clearance - Up to date: Claim history letter, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam, Drug test
