Job description:
Jiang Nan Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant in Halifax, NS. The restaurant serves authentic cuisine from the Southern part of China specializing in Szechuan, Hunan and Jiangxi cuisines. We pride ourselves in customer service while providing authentic Chinese food with a clean and warm environment.
Currently, we are looking for a full-time Food Buyer to join us. As a Buyer, you ensure building strong relationships with suppliers and most cost-effective ways to manage inventories.
Job duties:
- Negotiate, source, and purchase products from local and/or overseas suppliers
- Manage product availability in consideration of sales trend, forecast, product life cycles, and cost efficiency
- Maintain food inventories at an optimal level, determining quantity and type of food to be procured and avoiding excessive stocking
- Manage the processing of returning goods to vendors
- Issue requests for quotations and purchase orders
- Interview potential suppliers and price negotiation
- Maintain healthy communications with suppliers to ensure quotation and deliveries are on schedule
- Maintain pricing, discounts and credits
- Support internal staff and resolve any customer complaints
Qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary program is required
- Data management and sourcing skills are great assets
Salary: $25.00/hour
Working hours: 35 - 40 hours/week
