Job Title: Floor/Carpet layer (NOC 73113)

Terms of Employment:  30-40 hours per week, Full-Time/Permanent

Start Date: As soon as possible

Wage: $26.50 - $28.50 perhour (Depending on Experience)

No of Positions: 2

Job Duties:

• Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered with carpet or various other flooring.
• Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding.
• Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors.
• Cut the resilient flooring material accordingly and properly install it on the floor surface.
• Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings.
• Prepare and install hardwood floors.
• Conduct moisture, ph., temperature, and other tests prior to flooring installations.
• Estimate costs and materials.
• Prepare floors for installations.
• Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants.
• Install carpeting on walls or other surfaces.
• Perform double-bond carpet installations.
• Install outdoor carpets.

• Perform direct glue-down carpet installations.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Education: Secondary School is required.

Experience: 2-3 year of experience as carpet layer/installer or in relevant field, or a completion of a 3-4 year apprenticeship program

Language: English

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Repetitive tasks.
