Nature of position:      Permanent, full-time (35 hours per week)

 

Wage:                          $16.50 per hour plus 1% of pooled tips to be allocated among all kitchen staff, based on hours worked

 

Vacation:                     4% in lieu of paid vacation

 

Language required:     English, spoken and written

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

 

  • Open and prepare kitchen for service.
  • Prepare and cook individual dishes, with a focus on fondue-based cooking.
  • Oversee kitchen operations, including by ensuring that food safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Clean kitchen and work area at end of service.
  • Determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies.
  • Train new kitchen staff members.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

 

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program for cooks, or completion of a college or other program in cooking, or at least two years of experience as a cook in a commercial establishment, is required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints.
  • Willingness to learn and to work in a team environment.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Respectful style of communication.
  • Passion for fondue and fine dining.
