Location: Toronto, ON M5J 2X2

Salary: $18.00 to 21.00 per hour (to be negotiated); 40 to 50 hours per week

Overtime: 1.5 times of gross pay after the completion of 44 hours

Vacation Pay: 4% on every pay period

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation of ingredients, such as washing and chopping vegetables, portioning meat, and measuring spices.
  • Washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, either by hand or using dishwashing machines, to maintain cleanliness and ensure a constant supply of clean tools for the kitchen staff.
  • Cleaning work surfaces, floors, and kitchen equipment to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment. This may involve sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces regularly.
  • Assisting with food plating and garnishing to ensure dishes are presented attractively before being served to customers.
  • Assisting in the inventory management of ingredients, supplies, and equipment, which may include unpacking deliveries, organizing storage areas, and monitoring stock levels.
  • Providing support to the cooks and chefs in the kitchen by fetching ingredients, operating kitchen equipment, and following their instructions to facilitate smooth food preparation.
  • Properly disposing of kitchen waste and maintaining recycling practices according to the restaurant's guidelines.
  • Adhering to health and safety regulations, including proper handling of food, wearing appropriate protective gear, and maintaining personal hygiene.
  • Collaborating with other kitchen staff members, such as chefs, cooks, and servers, to ensure effective communication, cooperation, and overall efficiency in the kitchen.

 Eligibility Requirements:

  • No educational certificate or diploma is required for this role.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen equipment
  • Efficiently managing time to meet deadlines and work effectively in a busy kitchen setting.
  • Being flexible and able to adjust to changing menus, recipes, and kitchen situations.
  • Remaining calm and focused during busy periods and being able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English are typically preferred for the job.
  • Maintaining proper sanitization in the work premises. This involves sweeping, moping, washing, and polishing floors and tables.
  • Cleaning of the kitchen garbage and trash boxes.
  • Timely- cleaning and sanitization of the kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and other equipment.
