Salary: $44.00 hourly
35 hours per week
Overtime: 1.5 times of gross pay after completion of 44 hours
Vacation Pay: 4% on every pay period

Job Responsibilities:
- Installing, configuring, and upgrading database management systems (DBMS) to ensure proper functionality and performance.
- Collaborating with application developers to design and implement efficient database structures and schemas. Optimizing database performance by tuning queries, indexes, and database parameters.
- Implementing and enforcing security measures to protect sensitive data. Setting up user accounts, defining access privileges, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Establishing and executing backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss. Conducting regular backups, verifying their integrity, and testing restore procedures.
- Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and resolving issues that impact performance. Implementing performance tuning techniques to optimize database operations.
- Managing the transfer of data between databases and systems during migration or integration projects. Ensuring data integrity, compatibility, and adherence to business requirements.
- Investigating and resolving database-related problems, such as performance issues, connectivity errors, and data inconsistencies. Implementing corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies. Generating reports on database usage, performance metrics, and capacity planning to support decision-making.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders. Communicating effectively to understand requirements, address concerns, and provide technical guidance.
- Developing and implementing disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss in case of system failures or disasters. Conducting regular drills and ensuring business continuity.
Eligibility Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is often preferred.
- Relevant work experience of 3 to 5 years in database administration is required.
- Proficiency in working with specific DBMS platforms such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc., is typically required. Familiarity with multiple DBMSs is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of database administration principles, techniques, and best practices is essential. This includes expertise in areas such as database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and data migration.
- A solid understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) and experience in writing efficient SQL queries. Knowledge of query optimization techniques to enhance database performance is beneficial.
- Understanding of data security principles and experience implementing security measures to protect databases and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve database-related issues. Experience in troubleshooting performance problems, connectivity errors, and data inconsistencies is valuable.
- Effective English communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders. This includes the ability to understand requirements, explain technical concepts, and work as part of a team.
