Salary: $44.00 hourly for 35 hours per week
Overtime: 1.5 times of gross pay after completion of 44 hours
Vacation Pay: 4% on every pay period

Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing and creating the structure of databases, including tables, relationships, and indexes, to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Install and configure database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server. Also, set up the necessary hardware and software components, configure security settings, and establish user access controls.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of the data. Also, define user roles and permissions, enforce authentication mechanisms, and monitor user activity to prevent unauthorized access.
- Monitor database performance, identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize query execution. One must analyze query plans, monitor resource utilization, and fine-tune database configurations to improve overall performance.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and protect against data loss. Ability to schedule regular backups, verify backup integrity, and perform recovery operations in case of system failures or data corruption.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, applying patches, updates, and new releases to keep the database system up to date. They test upgrades, evaluate their impact, and minimize downtime during the upgrade process.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, such as performance problems, data inconsistencies, or system errors. One must analyze error logs, investigate root causes, and collaborate with other teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor database capacity and resource utilization, recommend hardware or software upgrades, and optimize database configurations to meet performance and storage requirements.
- Maintain documentation of database schemas, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Responsible to create reports on database performance, capacity utilization, security compliance, and other metrics to keep stakeholders informed.
Eligibility Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is the minimum educational qualification required for this job.
- Prior work experience of 3 to 5 years in database administration is crucial.
- Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders. This includes the ability to understand requirements, explain technical concepts, and work as part of a team.
- A solid understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) and experience in writing efficient SQL queries. Knowledge of query optimization techniques to enhance database performance is beneficial.
- Proficiency in working with specific DBMS platforms such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc., is typically required. Familiarity with multiple DBMSs is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of database administration principles, techniques, and best practices is essential. This includes expertise in areas such as database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and data migration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve database-related issues. Experience in troubleshooting performance problems, connectivity errors, and data inconsistencies is valuable.
- This job entails working in a fast-paced environment with the need to handle pressure, meet tight deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
