Job Summary:
Intercity Animal Emergency Clinic is a veterinary practice providing emergency and general care to pets 24/7/365. Whether you have a regular vet or not, if your pet needs medical attention after hours, including late evenings into the night or even on statutory holidays, we are here for you.

Job Description and Duties:
- Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
- Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
- Produce radiographs, collect and analyse samples and perform other laboratory tests to assist in diagnosis of animal health problems
- Assist veterinarian with animals before, during and following surgery by preparing surgical equipment, administering and monitoring anaesthetics and cleaning up after surgery
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain kennels, operating rooms, examining rooms and cages
- Ensuring clients and pets are comfortable in the waiting area.
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of a veterinarian
- Administer treatments as prescribed by a veterinarian
- Provide wound and bandage care
- Feed animals and monitor whether they're eating.
- Bathe pets when necessary.
- Exercise the animals.
- Educate and advise clients on animal health care including nutrition and home care
- Assist in laboratory research
- Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry
- Liaising with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Complying with hospital standards, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Maintaining medical records.
- Perform some clerical duties.
- May perform a variety of office management and clerical duties.
Terms of Employment: Full time
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Wages: $21.05 per hour
Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.
Benefits Package:
- Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer.
- Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.
Education, Experience and Language Requirements:
- Completion of Secondary school.
- Post-secondary training in a related field is an asset.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- One or more years of related experience
