Wage:                                   $56.86 per hour, with an overtime rate of $85.29 per hour above 8 hours per day, $120.50 per hour above 12 hours per day

Abercrombie Pipeline Services of Canada LP is a heavy-civil pipeline construction company with projects underway in Canada. We specialize in oil, gas, utility, sewer and water pipeline projects.  Additionally, we focus on power transmission and distribution and tunneling projects.

 

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

 

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Safely and effectively operate various types and sizes of heavy civil construction equipment including but not limited to dozers, sidebooms, tractors, scraper, loaders, and excavators.
  • Operate equipment in an efficient manner and follow instruction of on-site management.
  • Follow all equipment monitoring and maintenance requirements. Clean, lubricate and refuel equipment
  • Be capable and willing to maintain equipment as needed.
  • Operate heavy equipment to lift, move or place equipment or materials.
  • Load and unload equipment.
  • Be aware of situation hazards, including blind spots, pinch points, road crossings, power lines, conflicting right-of-way traffic and proper use of tag lines.
  • Operate equipment safely in various terrains such as steep slopes. 
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Perform routine pre-operation inspection and maintenance on equipment.
  • Fill out equipment logbooks. 
  • Communicate with the equipment spotter to ensure safe operation of equipment and tasks being performed.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

 

  • Completion of a one- to two-year apprenticeship program or some high school, college or industry courses in heavy equipment operating combined with on-the-job training.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate various types and sizes of heavy civil construction equipment including but not limited to dozers, sidebooms, tractors, scraper, loaders, and excavators.
  • Heavy civil construction experience working on steep slopes and mountainous terrain is desired.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Certification is preferred
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Ability to work in various and extreme weather conditions
  • Physically capable of performing job responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Ability to correctly rig and hoist material.
  • Able to enter and exit the cab of a vehicle or piece of equipment that is 3 feet or more off the ground.
  • Able to work long, irregular and varied hours, six to seven day per week, 50 to 70 hours per week.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with federal, provincial and local standards.
  • Ability to safely and effectively perform the essential job functions consistent with federal, provincial and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
