Job description:
Great Little Box Company is seeking an OFFSET PRESS OPERATOR (KBA) TEER 73401 for Greater Vancouver area. It is a full-time, permanent position, 40 hours/week, offering $25.50/hourly and three weeks of vacation to start. Start date as soon as possible. Health, dental and vision benefits.
As a Press Operator, you will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Review job orders to determine job specifications such as production time, colour sequence and quantities required, and advise press crew of these specifications.
- Mount plates or cylinders and make necessary adjustments.
- Fill ink fountains and take measurements, make adjustments and determine settings to control colour and viscosity.
- Set up press and check samples for ink coverage, alignment and registration.
- Monitor regular press runs for quality and consistency using computer control console and make adjustments as required.
- Remove and clean plates and cylinders at the end of press run.
- Direct activities of press crew and ensure that safety procedures are adhered to.
- Work on a variety of KBA machines.
- Ensure raw materials are in good condition prior to feeding through the machines.
- Ensure material is loaded into feeders in an efficient manner for smooth operations.
- Make adjustments to equipment, such as feeder mechanism based on the size of paper.
- Provide assistance as needed to setup equipment.
- Assist with retrieving, hanging, and recycling/storing plates.
- Troubleshoot quality and press issues.
- Ensure processes and systems are being followed properly.
- Autocount entries for Radius paperwork is filled out accordingly and accurately and forward any discrepancies to managers in a timely manner.
- Complete orders on time and maintain our 99% on time delivery goal.
- Continually look for ways to improve process efficiencies in the manufacturing of corrugated products.
- Ensure that the KBA area is kept clean and is always organized by practicing 5S principles.
- Make samples as required.
- Other general production duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating press equipment, including setup, calibration, and maintenance.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of press operations, printing processes, and materials used in the printing industry.
- Quality Control: Ability to conduct quality checks, identify and troubleshoot print defects, and ensure adherence to printing standards.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical skills to perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and make necessary adjustments.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail to maintain print accuracy, color consistency, and registration.
- Problem-Solving: Aptitude for quickly identifying and resolving operational issues or mechanical problems during press runs.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organization skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to Work Under Pressure: Capable of handling work in a fast-paced environment and remaining calm and professional in challenging situations.
- English Proficiency: Must possess excellent speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.
- Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication abilities to coordinate with team members, convey instructions, and report any issues or concerns.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods, lifting heavy materials, and operating press machinery.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to established safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Time Management: Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet production deadlines, and optimize workflow efficiency.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new printing technologies, equipment, and industry advancements.
- Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating relevant experience, skills, and examples of successful print projects (for Press Operator).
- Professional Reference: Able to provide at least one professional reference upon request.
