Role Description
- Collaborate with teams to design and develop efficient, normalized, and scalable database structures.
- Perform comprehensive analysis of existing data structures, patterns, and trends to identify insights and opportunities for optimization.
- Create logical and physical data models that accurately represent the relationships and attributes of the data.
- Develop, implement, and maintain database scripts, queries, and stored procedures for data retrieval and manipulation.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and rectifying bottlenecks for improved efficiency.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity by implementing validation rules, constraints, and data quality measures.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect sensitive data, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
- Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data and facilitate disaster recovery.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, errors, and inconsistencies to maintain data reliability.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database structures, processes, and changes.
- Work closely with software developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and data flow.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and practices to maintain data accuracy and consistency.
- Develop scripts and processes to transform and load data from different sources into the database.
- Design, implement, and manage Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes for data integration.
- Generate custom reports and queries to provide valuable insights to various teams and stakeholders.
- Utilize data analysis tools and technologies to perform complex data manipulations and transformations.
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging database technologies to suggest improvements and innovations.
Role Eligibility
- A CEGEP/ college degree is the minimum educational requirement.
- Prior experience of 2 - 3 years in database analysis or related roles.
- Strong skills in writing complex SQL queries, optimizing query performance, and database tuning.
- Experience in designing and creating logical and physical data models.
- Ability to design and implement efficient database schemas, tables, views, and indexes.
- Proficiency in data analysis techniques to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Knowledge of data security best practices and data protection regulations.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Perl, or PowerShell for automating tasks and data manipulation.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve database-related issues effectively.
- Strong English communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams, collaborating with developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify efficient solutions and optimize database performance.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator, or similar can be advantageous.
- Willingness to stay updated with new database technologies, tools, and industry trends.
- Precision in data management, accuracy in queries, and maintaining data integrity.
- Basic project management skills to manage database-related projects.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technology landscapes and changing business needs.
