Job description:
Location: Mississauga, ON L5S 1A7
Salary: $64.50 per hour for 30 hours per week
Overtime:1.5 times gross pay after completion of 44 hours
Vacation Pay: 4% on every pay period
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership to the engineering department, aligning it with the company's long-term goals and objectives.
- Oversee and mentor a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Efficiently allocate engineering resources, including budget and personnel, to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
- Lead the development and execution of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as product management and marketing, to ensure engineering efforts align with business strategies.
- Identify potential risks in engineering projects and develop mitigation plans to minimize disruptions and delays.
- Ensure engineering practices comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the engineering team, encouraging the development of new technologies and solutions.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the engineering department's performance effectiveness and efficiency.
- Optimize resource utilization for maximum return on investment.
- Recruit, hire, and retain top engineering talent, ensuring the team is equipped to handle current and future projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department, seeking ways to enhance processes and increase productivity.
- Address and resolve conflicts or issues within the engineering team, promoting a harmonious work environment.
Eligibility Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree is a minimum requirement.
- Prior experience of 5 years or more in leadership and management roles within engineering teams or departments is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effectively liaising with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are critical for identifying and addressing engineering challenges and opportunities.
- Strong technical skills and expertise in the relevant discipline are essential for effectively leading engineering teams and making informed decisions.
- Proficiency in project management and the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- The ability to foster innovation and adapt to rapidly changing technologies and market conditions is highly valued.
- Proven skills in team building, talent development, and creating a collaborative and motivated workforce.
- Understanding budgeting, resource allocation, and financial management is important for optimizing engineering resources and achieving ROI.
- The budgetary responsibility falls within $500,001 to $1,500,000.
