Location: Gander, NL A1V 1X3

Salary: $27.50 per hour for 35 hours per week

Overtime:1.5 times gross pay after completion of 40 hours

Vacation Pay: 4% on every pay period

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including transactions, purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
  • Posting financial data to the general ledger and reconciling accounts regularly.
  • Issuing invoices to customers, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
  • Ensuring bank statements align with financial records, resolving discrepancies, and tracking bank transactions.
  • Calculating employee wages, deductions, and taxes, and ensuring timely payroll processing.
  • Preparing financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Entering financial data into accounting software accurately and efficiently.
  • Assisting in the creation and monitoring of budgets, comparing actual performance to budgeted figures.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborating with other team members, accountants, and financial managers to provide necessary financial information and support.
  • Assisting with basic financial analysis and reporting on financial trends.
  • Organizing and maintaining financial records, receipts, and documents in a systematic manner.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A secondary (high) school graduation certificate is typically required.
  • Previous experience of 2 to 3 years in bookkeeping or a related financial role is crucial for this job. 
  • Proficiency in using accounting software, such as QuickBooks, MS Excel, or other similar platforms, is desired.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail are crucial to accurately record financial transactions.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills are important for interacting with clients, vendors, and other team members.
  • One must be organized and able to manage multiple financial records and transactions.
  • Handle sensitive financial information, so trustworthiness and maintaining confidentiality are essential qualities.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines is crucial in handling bookkeeping responsibilities efficiently.
  • Able to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
  • Basic financial analysis skills can be beneficial for interpreting data and identifying financial trends.
