Job description
Landscaping and grounds maintenance labourers perform work to assist in the construction of
landscapes and related stru and to maintain lawns, gardens, athletic fields, golf courses,
cemeteries, parks, landscaped interiors and other landscaped They are employed by landscaping and
lawn care companies, golf courses, cemeteries, and landscaping operations of pub works departments
and private establishments.
• Spread top soil, lay sod, plant flowers, grass, shrubs and trees and perform other duties to
assist with the construe! a landscape and related structures
• Cut grass, rake, aerate, dethatch, fertilize and water lawns, weed gardens, prune shrubs and
trees and perform oth maintenance duties as directed by supervisor
• Maintain lawns and grass along roadsides
• Operate and maintain power mowers, tractors, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, pruning
saws, snowblower other landscape maintenance equipment
• Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments.
Responsibilities Tasks
• Assist with landscape constructions
• Tying
• Weed, prune and trim trees and plants
• Cut grass
• Rake and collect refuse
• Remove litter and garbage
• Cart and spread topsoil and other materials
• Lay sod or seed
• Plant bulbs, flowers, shrubs and trees
• Dig cemetery graves
• Repair and maintain equipment
• Write daily basic progress reports
• Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
• Operate and maintain landscape maintenance equipment
• Clean snow and ice from walkwavs and parking areas
