Location: Mississauga, ON L5M 3S8

Salary: $35.50 hourly for 40 hours per week

Overtime:1.5 times gross pay after completion of 44 hours

Vacation Pay: 4% on every pay period

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of mechanics and technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring they have the necessary skills and tools to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Supervise and manage the maintenance of snow ploughing machinery to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on safety protocols, equipment maintenance procedures, and efficient repair techniques.
  • Schedule and conduct regular inspections of all machinery to identify and address maintenance needs and safety issues.
  • Oversee repairs and servicing of equipment, ensuring that maintenance tasks are completed promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status.
  • Be prepared to handle unexpected challenges, such as equipment breakdowns during severe weather events, and implement quick solutions.
  • Maintain records of equipment usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs for budget and performance analysis.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials required for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ensure that all equipment meets safety and regulatory standards for winter operations.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically the minimum educational requirement. 
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair, especially with snow ploughing machinery, is required. 
  • Strong leadership and management skills to oversee a team of mechanics and technicians effectively.
  • Experience in budgeting for maintenance and repair expenses, as well as managing expenses efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with staff and management, and provide updates on equipment readiness.
  • The ability to provide training and guidance to staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Capability to identify and resolve equipment issues promptly and efficiently, especially during winter emergencies.
  • The capacity to handle unexpected challenges, adapt to changing weather conditions and provide effective solutions.
