We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Software Engineer in our growing team at Tech IT Group at our Vancouver, BC office location. Job type: Full time & Permanent (At-least 40 hours weekly)

Wages Offered: $113,000 - $120,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, modify, write, test, implement & integrate software code related to the creation or maintenance of software applications and services
  • Performs research, design, implementation and support tasks as a member of team.
  • Collect and document users’ requirements and develop logical and physical specifications.
  • Works in accordance with project guidelines, quality standards and code conventions.
  • Responsible for area/areas within the team area of responsibility (AOR).
  • One of the current team AOR is implement high-performance graph storage solution, integrate listeners into systems like Hadoop, Spark, and internal tools to produce graph nodes and vertices and help build visualizations and traversals of the graphs.
  • Investigate, build, and implement the solutions for existing technical challenges, including building/improving the frameworks and tools used by other development teams.
  • Design software system interfaces and ensure these systems are continually improved and upgraded once they are operational;
  • Collaborate with the tech team to ensure network security as well as data management security of the company;
  • Understand our platforms in-depth and finish troubleshooting when they arise;
  • Preparing technical documents related to the software programming and development as required;
  • Develop and execute the test as well as maintenance methods necessary for the validation of technical solutions while taking into account the norms and standards established;
  • Conduct testing of the software system in the early stage of use and the maintenance in the process of use, including system debugging and code optimization;
  • Adheres to, and provides input for improvements of, existing software development life cycle (SDLC) processes, methodologies & development standards
  • Working with technologies such as NodeJS, MongoDB, RDBMS, and NoSQL to develop in-house software
  • Working in an agile environment using tools like Jira
  • Collaborate with other engineers & developers to provide the best solution possible that conforms to best industry practices, including writing of code reviews
  • Collaborates with other team members to carry out requirements and business analysis, and contributes technical perspective to meet project requirements and deliverables.
  • Work through the entire agile development and operations process under the BizDevOps environment

 

Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

 

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload and work under time pressures to meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to exhibit tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature.
  • 5+ years of solid commercial Python (Preferred) or Java coding experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in one or more open-source Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark/SQL, HiveSQL, Presto, Kafka)
  • Working knowledge of SQL Developer, JDeveloper, BI Publisher Database systems and applications.
  • Experience with Data workflow orchestration engines for ETL jobs, such as Airflow • High code quality, automated testing, and other engineering standard processes
  • Strong OOP skills
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and social skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload and work under time pressures to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature.
  • Good English (oral & written)

 

Education & qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a college program or bachelor’s degree in computer science/ Information Technology or Information Systems is required
