The classic artisan baker has been reimagined by owner operators Ryan Newton and Jamie Brandon, both bringing over 20 years each of hospitality experience in the Sea to Sky. The store is open 7 days a week with fresh fun family baked goods for all ages.

JOB SUMMARY: 

As a Pastry Chef at BrandNew Hospitality Ltd., you will be in-charge of preparing authentic, tasty pastries and delicacies. They possess the knowledge about the special techniques and ingredients needed to prepare these specialty dishes. The Pastry Chef will oversee the production schedule to determine the supply and demand of the products and will ensure that the quality of products meets the established standards. 

This person will need to show proficiency in decision-making, problem-solving skills, time management, effective communication, and teamwork. 

JOB TITLE: Pastry Chef

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES: 

  • Maintain accurate records of food expenditures, consumption, sales, and inventory levels 
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and operate machinery 
  • Educate chefs/cooks/ kitchen staff in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and preparation of food 
  • Devise innovative recipes that showcase culinary creativity and cater to diverse tastes 
  • Expertly prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls, and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes with precision and flair 
  • Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs 
  • Coordinate the procurement and maintenance of kitchen equipment as needed 
  • Strategically plan menus while upholding stringent quality benchmark for all products 
  • Prepare special orders for customers with food allergies or intolerances 
  • Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods 
  • Ensure that the quality of products meet established standards 

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Completion of secondary school is required 
  • At least 1 year of work experience as a Pastry Chef 
  • Ability to communicate in English 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES: 

  • Repetitive tasks 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Work under pressure 
  • Combination of standing, walking, bending 
  • Standing for extended periods 
  • Capable of lifting/pushing heavy objects weighing over 30lbs 
  • Work independently with minimal or no supervision 
  • Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls 
  • Spatial awareness and ability to navigate a busy kitchen 

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Effective interpersonal skills 
  • Works well in a fast-paced and demanding environment 
  • Must be a team player, reliable, and organized 
  • Must be available for all hours of operations 
  • Must be able to work early mornings (starts 3 to 4 AM) and weekends 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent Full-time, Long-term. 

WAGES: $20.50 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week 

OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations. 

BENEFITS PACKAGE: 

  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis. 

 

ANTICIPATED START DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: As soon as possible
