Job Duties:
• Assist patients with hygiene, such as using the bathroom, bathing, brushing teeth and dressing.
• Respond immediately to calls from patients for assistance or treatment and alert medical staff to pending emergency situations.
• Encourage all patients to get exercise and participate in scheduled activities.
• Engage in housekeeping tasks such as replacing linens on beds, cleaning patient rooms and removing and replacing trash bags.
• Work with dining room personnel to ensure that all patients get the correct meals and that all residents are able to eat.
• Assisting patients with meals by feeding them.
• Monitoring general health and vital signs, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate and report the same.
• Turn, reposition and move patients between wheelchairs, seats and beds.
• Provide and clean bedpans.
• Help patients with mobility problems to move around.
• Observe and record patient’s conditions, food and liquid intake and other behaviour, and report changes to supervisor.
• Comply with all safety and health regulations.
• Provide hands-on care to patients in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and care centers.
• Answer calls for help and determines if additional help is needed.
• Deliver them to operating rooms.
• Set up equipment.
• Store and move supplies.
• Observe fluid intake and output.
• Report abnormal changes or patterns to nursing staff.
• Develop nurturing relationships with patients.
• Empty bedpans and change dirty linens.
• Follow proper procedures for lifting and moving patients.
