JOB SUMMARY: 

As a Food Counter Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the food service counter. Your responsibilities will include taking customer orders, handling transactions, preparing and serving food items, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the counter area, restocking supplies, and addressing customer inquiries. Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential, and a positive attitude in interacting with customers is crucial to creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES: 

  • Greet customers in a friendly manner and assist them in making food choices
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Process transactions and handle cash or electronic payments
  • Prepare and assemble food items according to established recipes and quality standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the food counter area, including equipment and utensils
  • Utilize equipment to craft beverages, including specialty coffees and teas
  • Restock food items and supplies as needed to ensure continuous availability
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns in a polite and helpful manner 
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures 
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the food service counter 
  • Follow established protocols for opening and closing procedures 
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages and waste 
  • Uphold a positive and customer-centric attitude to enhance the overall dining experience. 

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Completion of secondary school is required 
  • Some experience is an asset 
  • On the job training will be provided 
  • Ability to communicate in English 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES: 

  • Engage in repetitive tasks with a focus on detail
  • Perform effectively under pressure
  • Experience a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and bending
  • Stand for extended periods as needed
  • Occasionally work in an environment with noise and distractions

  • Display strong interpersonal skills 
  • Prioritize client satisfaction and exhibit dependability 
  • Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, reliability, and organizational abilities 
  • Availability required for all operational hours, including overtime and weekends as necessary 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent Full-time, Long-term. 

WAGES: $17 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week 

OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations. 

BENEFITS PACKAGE: 

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety Insurance Board covered by employer 
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis. 

 

ANTICIPATED START DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: As soon as possible
