Cana-Datum Moulds is a leading Canadian designer and manufacturer of high-pressure die casting tooling and moulds for light metal automotive components, specializing in large components for electric vehicles.

Located in Etobicoke, Ontario (QEW & Kipling), we are currently hiring a:

          Tool and Die Maker

This is a full-time opportunity for to work at a busy mould manufacturer.

You will work under the direction of a skilled Mould Maker to construct new tooling, including moulds and dies as per drawing specifications. 

Your responsibilities include:

- read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications of each mould

- calculate dimensions, tolerances and set ups of machine tools

- verify machined parts for conformance to specs using precision measuring instruments

- organize and assemble metal pieces, water lines and cables from blueprints, sketches, models or drawings

- fit and assemble or disassemble parts with hand or pneumatic tools

- set up and operate various conventional or CNC Shop machines to accurately make (e.g., cut, trim, mill, drill, bore, grind, etc.) customized metal sub-components for each mould

- clean/wash mould components as necessary

- transport work in progress and finished products manually or with powered equipment (e.g., crane)

- complete appropriate job-related paperwork

- perform other duties as assigned

You require the following skills and competencies:

· Applicable Post-secondary Diploma or related technical background.

· Good English communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, mathematical and basic computer literacy skills.

· Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches and procedures.

· Measure using precision shop floor instruments (e.g., micrometer, vernier, indicator, etc.).

· Meet tight deadlines and work to tight tolerances in a fast-paced environment.

· Are accurate, self-motivated, and a team player.

· Must be able to work on a day or afternoon shift.

· Previous machine shop or automotive manufacturing experiences are strong assets.
